Outside of Marina Bay Sands as Local Tourists
So it has gotten to the final part of my Marina Bay Sands staycation but do check out the room I stayed at and the visit to the Infinity Pool if you haven’t. The one thing which a staycation boasts over a vacation is being familiar with the vicinity’s hot spots (at least in the Marina Bay area) and a localized tourist.

Sweet Spot patisserie was located right in front of the lift lobby of tower 3. It is probably the most affordable place for quick bites without paying through your nose. They serve tasty macaroons and delicious pastry in gigantic sizes, even if there was a lack in variety. I had a yummy cheese croissant for breakfast on the final day of my stay.

Despite being inside of the Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands on many occasions, I never quite realized how huge it was that I find myself using the interactive directory to get to specific shops quite a fair bit. The levels are littered with familiar big name luxury brands and then there are the smaller and cheaper ones like Fossil and my all-time favorite fragrance marketplace – Sephora. Think Paragon, but just a level higher in class.

The mall is is so long that it can get really tiresome to walk from one end to the other. It doesn’t help that it is separated into 2 boat-liked structures too. That only means even more walking. Someone please kill me.

Well, we couldn’t be hanging around the mall for the entire time so a not so short walk to the food trail at Singapore Flyer for dinner was in place. It is not cheap by Singaporean standards but at the very least, for half the price of the $45 buffet breakfast, I could get 2 stomaches satisfactory filled.

And then they have this sampan boat service available at $10/person where you get to be rowed for a round, not that it was through the entire mall or you get to see anything out of the ordinary. Can you spot the turquoise-colored sampan? In the beginning, I was rather keen to give it a try but that enthusiasm gradually waned away as the days passed on.
So at the end of my staycation, I have still not sat on the sampan and probably don’t intend to.

Usually I’m not one to write about poor service standards by restaurants but stay away from the TCC located in the Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands! They are incredibly understaffed (2 including the cashier when I counted) that even getting a seat had a queue forming at 3ish in the afternoon. Yes, I had to wait for quite awhile before I was eventually shown to a table even when there were many available seats around.
That was not all, I also spent near 45 minutes waiting for my food to be served and it was cold when I ate it. It didn’t help that the fish which I ordered was rather stale too. You have been warned.

It was out of the mall and the first thing which caught my eye was the Louis Vuitton island maison. It is difficult not to notice it’s unique shape. I’m not a big admirer of LV products but this amazing piece of architecture had taken control of my attention span. It has the word “atas” written all over it.

Let’s not forget about the lotus-shaped Singapore ArtScience museum which is pretty outstanding even from afar. It is one of those structures that stand out, the Esplanade falls into that category too. When night falls, the entire area is also an amazing location for photography.
The Titanic: The Artifact exhibition was also held here and each ticket costs $20 for locals, tourists have it slightly more expensive.

Unfortunately for you guys, they didn’t allow any photography inside and so I have to leave you with pretty much nothing to whet your excitement. Well, at least there is the tickets to show of?

That sums up a very brief walkabout outside of Marina Bay Sands and the end of the series of posts on my staycation. Did I mention that I could checkout late? Instead of the usual 11am, it became 1pm. How awesome was that?
It was truly a pricy yet unforgettable couple of days. Although many have commented what a waste of money this staycation was when I could have gone on an actual vacation, the experience was well worth it. What could beat a staycation at the most posh hotel in Singapore with the best location in the country to catch the 2012 new year fireworks?
If I could turn back time, I would do it all over again.

Bad is an understatement. Lunchtime was already over and I had to wait for such a long time.
What a sophisticated place on earth!!!!
Marina Bay Sands is impressive! But it’ll cost a bomb for me. I love the standalone LV store…unique
