The original plan was to shoot at the Sentosa Flowers event but upon hearing how crazy the crowd was, I had second thoughts. The idea of paying SGD $7 to enter Sentosa and another SGD $5 for parking did not help things too. I decided on an alternate location, the Woodlands Waterfront.

If you are driving and coming from Admiralty road, turn into Admiralty Road West. The URA car park is located there. You can’t miss it. If you need to put a map to all that, this was the route I took:

* The route isn’t complete, you still need to turn into Admiralty Road West

On first sight, this would immediately pass off as yet another kite flying location. There were quite a number being flown in the sky but of course, it gets nowhere near Marina Barrage’s crowd on Sunday evenings.

The winding path will lead you directly to the toilet. Despite being barely 10 months old, don’t get your expectations high. If you have ever been to the public toilets at Lower Seletar Reservoir, they don’t differ too much.

The most distinctive feature about the waterfront is arguably the L-shaped jetty. If you haven’t already known, Bedok jetty follows the letter ‘T’. It would be a good fight between the two to decide which extends further into the sea.

This would be quite a place to enjoy the sea breeze during the night. Unfortunately for me, living pretty much in the central of Singapore means coming here would be quite a chore unless I am driving.

You can spot the causeway and Johor Bahru from the jetty itself. I have always known that Singapore and Malaysia were very near each other but I did not expect it to be so close. On a side note, is anyone able to identify the colorful building across the shore?

I spotted this couple having the sweetest of moments. Even at their age, they are still so loving and blissful. I hope to have the very same fate and luck to grow old with my special someone too. And just maybe, I would get a picture like this taken too.

What would a jetty be without fishing? Unsurprisingly, there was quite the crowd. The shelter is what separates Bedok jetty from the Woodlands Waterfront. Especially nice to have during the hot afternoons.

If you are looking for a thirst quencher, you won’t find it here. The vending machine was out of a single drink. It is disappointing to know that no effort has been made to ensure the drinks are adequately replenished. You are better off bringing your own drinks.

The children playground looks really huge yet neat. Little wonder parents choose to bring their kids here rather than the ones in the neighborhood. Why didn’t they build these mega playgrounds when I was still a kid?

Notice anything special other than the exception of the trail left by an flown by airplane?

I couldn’t help but noticed there was a fitness corner on the map, located a short distance away from the carpark. However, after walking for a good 10 minutes, there wasn’t a single one in sight. I gave up, turned around and walked to the Picnic.

That concluded my afternoon at the Woodlands Waterfront. I would definitely want to come back, only this time in the night.
